Me no good at English. I just got PWNED by GMAT verbal.

25Jan06

I hope its just because its 1:46 in the morning… anyways, so here are the top reasons why I respectfully despise the GMAT:
– Because the ability to correct a GMAT sentence, far removed from correcting an ENGLISH sentence has no bearing at all whatsoever on the abilities of a person to bring about positive change in a group of people. And isn’t that what leadership is all about? Oh hang on, I forgot. B schools don’t teach you how to lead, they teach you how to manage. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that).
– I just picture these ETS writers sitting there in some little cubicle office happily snorting away with their colleagues after sharing a delightfully inane passage that they wrote to bore the living crap out of a test taker…….. thereby forcing the test taker to fall asleep during the course of the exam and fail miserably.
– data sufficiency. enough said.
– i love how I pick “C” as the answer and then the princeton review answer tells me “Clearly, C is illogical and the Joe Bloggs answer” with no further explanation. THANKS.
– i’d much rather be spending my time doing interesting, value added things like ruminating about some new venture or crazy contraption…. or reading blogs… which i …..am….trying not….to….do ::closes Treehugger and other tabs::

Honestly.. the only part of the GMAT that I think makes sense is the critical reasoning. I think its important for a person to be able to think logically before coming to a business decision..sometimes. I wish I had taken a logic class in college.

ok… off to study more. or sleep. or read blogs again…..

There, I fixed that for you.

    1. I agree, test taking sucks and test writers probably are the sorts of people that enjoy tormenting others.

    2. But don’t be hating on the verbal skillz.

    3. You didn’t have to take a formal logic course? What kind of honkytonk hucklebuck program is U of M running up there?

    4. Keep it up man, you’re going to totally nail this thing.
