Out with it already

I’ve been waiting for someone to make digital ink viable since freshman year of college (believe it or not, not only for Green reasons.. its great having a copy that you can mark up electronically and archive into OneNote or email to someone). I hate subscribing to print magazines like Business2, Entrepreneur, Inc, and RedHerring, when I could just get digital versions. I know, I know, I could get Zinio reader and sit there and read them on my laptop. But its just not as convenient. Maybe if I had an extra tabletPC like I used to (sold it because I needed the $), I could sit down at breakfast and read my magazines. Or maybe I could get the new mini M$ tablet.

But honestly, the best device in my opinion would be a lightweight tablet that doesnt have much of an OS.. Just the reader and an email functionality. It has to be cheap (priced around $100). Preferably color, but I guess it really doesnt have to be. It has to have instant-on (I dont want some 20 second boot up process), so I could flip it on and go to a page in a magazine just like I could right now with a print copy.

Finally, it has to be easy to bookmark/tag (del.icio.us/digg?)/search. Maybe, just maybe, Sony is starting to get it right?
