I haven’t had time to post, there’s been a lot of running around to perform administrative activities and get acclimated to Shanghai.
Also, I’ve been getting over the jet lag. I was absolutely fine the first day I got over here but then the jet lag started to kick in later, on the second and third days. I think I’m okay now. I think the jetlag was minimized by the fact that we took a nonstop trip from Chicago and we’re almost exactly flipped– day here is night in the US.
This is on the first night I landed here in Shanghai and Kevin and I decided to explore for a bit. Luckily, we found Ajisen noodles, where I could find ONE thing on the menu that was vegetarian.
Jade rice. I had my trusty MeNoSpeak Chinese phrasebook with me, so I could point to egg fried rice and say “wo bu chh ro” and they understood pretty quickly.
Today, Kevin and I have to finish up user instructions and get them translated to Chinese. Oh, yes, I also started taking Malarone, the newer, improved malaria medication because we’re leaving for the provinces very soon. So far no side effects. Much better than lariam, blegh.
Check out my flickr account, there are new pictures there. I will find more time to post this weekend. I’m planning on hitting up the Jade Buddha Temple here in Shanghai, so I will post pictures from that trip as well.
