Thanks for the recommendation Sheel, and the comment, Sarah.
Yeah, there are a plethora of interesting stores here, but I'm trying my hardest not to accumulate badmass that will just fill up my place!

I did, however, shop at Muji, which I should talk about in another entry.

Wicked, thanks for the bespoke link and the lunch link...my parents and I kicked around the idea of doing a family trip to China (eventually fell through). I was going to have a bunch of suits and shirts made while over there. Ah well, it's still a plan for the future. And the veggie lunch site is awesome, I'm always stumped trying to figure out new and exciting lunch options.

speaking of tailors, one place I got a ton of stuff made is the Shanghai South Bund Soft-Spinning Material Market. It's on the south bund (duh)... I took a bus there. It's pretty cheap, not a whole lot of negotiation... I was reasonably (though not entirely) pleased with the stuff I got and prices were pretty good (I think i paid 80rmb per shirt). I got a bespoke suit made in HK last year and it's my favorite suit now (I actually hate wearing anything else now)
