Recipe: Design Method.

One of the greatest disservices we can do to ourselves as design students is pay unadulterated obeisance to the 98+ methods that exist in ID’s coffers without considering architecting new ones to elicit human understanding… or make stuff.
Here is my recipe for crafting a design method.
Take two parts Creativity (yes, I did say creativity. Contrary to popular belief, while Innovation may generally be repeatable sans creativity, using the same old tired methods to elicit information from people isn’t going to fly), add one part human Empathy, fold in a generous dose of Technology-understanding, and sprinkle with a little bit of Optimism and Bias for Prototyping.
The mixture may be a little heterogeneous at first, so blend well. Stick it in the oven and TRY IT early and often.
Top with an Elevator Pitch and Infographic. Make it good so your method has a longer shelf life.
If you think your dish is great and people love it, throw it on the ID Wiki and be messianic about your method to make it stick.
